I sure am glad that i did because it completely transforms the story. I have to say i like its ending far better then how it would have ended in the american version. The books main message is about individual freedom and how mans right to choose is our ultimate freedom which should not be striped from us under any circumstances. Now the main character in this book is a teenage miscreant named Alex who in real life i would rather not run into or cross. He likes to spend his free time ditching school, drinking drug laced milk, assaulting the homeless, having gang fights, raping women and crippling men. Despite all this the amount of joy he seems to experience seems to be a joy so sincere i remorsefully basked in the epicaricacy Alex was experiencing and felt a little bit of guilty pleasure of living life to any way you wanted with out fear of repercussions. Despite envying Alex for his care free life style i disliked him intensely as a person but loved him as a character you might say. On One of Alex's escapades he was caught by the police. And forced went to go to jail were he was made to undergo mind washing to turning him into a model citizen. But being well behaved caused nothing but trouble for Alex. As reformed citizen his life was a living hell. In the American version the book ends at this point which still gives you the same basic morals of the story that you need free will but takes away one of the nicest final chapters I have seen. After Alex almost kills himself he agrees becomes a spokesperson for the brainwashing if he could have it reversed and he did. Once night while committing his acts of depravity he ran into on of his old running mates who had settled down and he wishes this life for himself. The over all theme of this book is that free will is more important then acting correctly and that we need our mistakes so we can learn and grow from them as people. ...more "
