"The theme of this whole book is most likely to move on and learn from your past. Throughout the book, our protagonist the cat master looms in on his past with his ex-girlfriend and how he still has an attachment to her. However, towards the end, he accepts that he is no longer her boyfriend and that he has to move on. Also, his connection and abilities with his cat were constantly reflected throughout the novel." ""Come back! Come back!" In chapter 5 we see the struggle Ralph has to create order within the society. Ralph wants to keep the fire going so that the smoke may alert incoming ships or planes. However, Jack asks the boys to follow him to find the "beast" rather than listen to Ralph's rational thinking. This further supports the argument that Jack wants to have absolute power."
