"I've been taking my time with this book, and I'm glad. There's a lot to unpack in every chapter, and I feel like I'll get closer to processing everything in the book with future re-reads, if I get to that point. It's clear a lot of thought and effort was put into crafting this novel. The narrative is heavy and layered, but every chapter is absorbing, with compelling characters - especially Nao." Mary Ann Shaffer
“That's what I love about reading: one tiny thing will interest you in a book, and that tiny thing will lead you to another book, and another bit there will lead you onto a third book. It's geometrically progressive - all with no end in sight, and for no other reason than sheer enjoyment.”
Mary Ann Shaffer, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

David Levithan
“Love is so painful, how could you ever wish it on anybody? And love is so essential, how could you ever stand in its way?”
David Levithan, Two Boys Kissing

“Perhaps there is some secret sort of homing instinct in books that brings them to their perfect readers. How delightful if that were true.”
Mary Ann Shaffer, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

P.G. Wodehouse
“There are moments, Jeeves, when one asks oneself, 'Do trousers matter?'"
"The mood will pass, sir.”
P.G. Wodehouse, The Code of the Woosters

Dodie Smith
“Noble deeds and hot baths are the best cures for depression.”
Dodie Smith, I Capture the Castle
