Very much worth the read. The event that surrounds this story happened in the 1930s. Two giraffes were brought from Africa to New York and had to be transported to San Diego. The characters are memorable and real.

"West with Giraffes is one of those books my mom would have thrown on my bed and said, 'this is pretty good.' Which meant it's great. It is based on an actual event but the characters are fiction. Giraffes came from Africa into NY and had to be brought to San Diego. It's a road trip yes, but so much more. Every character is built to last in your memory.
