The book is about three fourteen year olds, Percy Jackson, a half-blood son of Poseidon, Annabeth Chase, a half-blood daughter of Athena, and Grover who is a satyr (otherwise known as a fawn). The three kids are trying to save two young half-bloods, Nico and Bianca, and bring them to safety at camp half-blood, but Annabeth is kidnapped in the process. This leads Percy, Grover, Nico, Bianca, and the hunters of Artemis (who they found along the way) to go and try to save Annabeth. Based on this evidence, it is clear that this book was mainly meant to entertain the reader, but by the end of the book, I was very educated on the ancient Greek Gods pretty well without even trying to learn about them. Anyway, this book is a mixture of fiction, lots of humor, and action that makes you never want it to end.

Next, I am going to talk about the theme. I think Rick Riordan’s theme for this book was that you should never give up on anything big or small. In this case, they are trying to find Annabeth. Here is a good quote that proves that they didn’t give up searching for Annabeth: “and she’d said nothing, not even a hint, about Annabeth” (90). This quote happens when Grover and Percy are discussing their options on ways to find Annabeth.

Next, I will talk about Rick Riordan’s style. Rick Riordan’s style for this book is 1st person narrative. The story follows the perspective of Percy Jackson. You get to know exactly how he thinks, what he is concerned about, and what he is feeling, and to make things even more interesting, he is a half-blood so he thinks differently and acts just a little bit differently than we do so it is funny and very cool. An example of Rick Riordan’s 1st person narrative style is: “I could already sense something wrong in this place” (3). This is a good quote because it shows how we can see exactly what Percy is thinking. I think Rick Riordan’s style for this book was very effective because it is helpful to know what he is thinking when Percy is about to do something stupid like he does a lot. I don’t think he could have used any other type of style and still make the story this good.

I really liked Percy Jackson: The Titan’s Curse. It is one of my Favorite books of the series and one of my favorites of any book I have ever read. I liked how Rick Riordan put humor, action, Greek Gods, and fiction all in the same book and still made it great. This book is relatable because Percy is also a teenager and dealing with teenager stuff too. I also liked how you were never bored with the book, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you never want to put the book down. There is not much that I didn’t like about this book, but one thing is that some of the characters were really annoying, but I guess that is just part of his plot for the book. One thing I would change about this book is I would add in just a little bit more action because it is really fun reading how good Percy is at fighting monsters and other mythical creatures. This book is similar to one of my other favorite books called Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone , it is not written the same way but has action and is fiction. Overall, Percy Jackson: The Titan’s Curse was a really good book and I would recommend it to anyone. ...more "
