Why did you decide to read this material?

Why did you decide to read this material?
I decided to start reading this book recently after the social studies speech. When I read the title of this book I thought maybe this would be an interesting book to read since it would teach me how I could have improved my speech, but more importantly, how would my future speeches be better. I think giving speeches is an important skill that is often used in jobs so this would also probably help me improve my future career or future presentations in high school. What confirmed me to think this was a book worth buying was when I realised the author was Chris J. Anderson, since the creator of TED must know a lot and have much to say about giving presentations and speeches.

Who is the audience?
I think the largest audience of this book is students, and workers. Many times the author would talk in the book as if we were going to give a TED talk, yet at other times he would say that that is probably unlikely so he would say this note about giving speeches is important to other people too, such as if we are college students. In this scenario the audience is very widespread. It includes people from many different age groups and different purposes since this book isn't a very specific guide (public speaking is used in many different situations and places)

8. What point of view does the author write from?
One of my favourite aspects of this book was the informality. This is closely associated to the point of view the author writes from since many times he talks in first person not hesitating to remind the readers that the CEO of TED wrote this book. He reminds us this through sentences such as "We definitely didn't include this on our TED youtube" and "Many people have conferred with me before they would give a speech asking for advice"
The author also alternates to second person when giving advice to the readers. For example the lines "don't leave a slide on for too long" imperatively says don't in a singular form directing it to the audience in the form of "you" (don't leave a slide on = you shan't leave a slide on) ...more "
