I picked up this book because not only did I need something to read during a very long and boring break off school, But I have also read her other books "Identical" being one of them. I picked up this book because not only did I need something to read during a very long and boring break off school, But I have also read her other books "Identical" being one of them. I really enjoyed that book of hers So, I thought i'd check out her other books. I went on her website hunting down my next book. Then I came across burned I read the back seeing if it was any good. I also read it and she writes its about a girl struggle to find love, the truth of religion, and etc. The religion she's trying to find the truth about would be the mormon religion. This is another reason I wanted to read it. To find out what her perspective.

I got into this story really fast. The details and the story line was great and very interesting. The first part of the story is one of my favorites out of many. Why I liked this part is because she meets ethan a guy that turns up being her boyfriend later in the book. This part was so cute and believable it seems that this could happen in a real life situation. It was really easy to like ethan and agree that pat is good for him.

One of the other parts I liked was when she and her aunt start opening up and talking to each other you not only learn about them , but you learn why the dad is the way he is. Which it seems like he was "born to kill" as her aunt j calls it and he has a past with threatening and anger. There was a history with aunt j and pats father. The story goes aunt j was completely in love with a young man and her father didn't approve so he sent pats father out to go find her and it turns out that aunt j was with him so pats father threatened her lover to either leave her alone or die. I also liked how this tied in with the ending.

I also liked this book because it was easy to have strong emotions against most of the characters. Its really east to relate to pat too (the main character). Just because of all the trials and hardships she goes through. Like falling in love with Ethan and the times they have together its a very cute love story. Her dad thinks that he is punishing he by doing this. What he doesn't know is he's really sending her somewhere she can get loved and accepted for who she is. Also she doesn't have to deal with an abusive father.

The last thing that i want to mention about what I liked. Is her style this book is written in a poem like format. It also reads like poem. It also has the emotions rocking back and fourth. Great book I loved it amazing way it was written.

What I didn't like about this book is the ending. She ands up losing everything she loves by some stupid guy that calls the cop on them. I didn't like how the ending ended so sadly. What I mean by sad is ethan ends up dying and the baby she ends up getting pregnant with dies she pretty much gets ex-communicated from her. She doesn't have any friends to turn to. She can't even turn to her religion so pretty much everything she worked so hard to accomplish gets taken from her. Plus she might have ruined the happiness of only family member that actually cares (aunt j).

I Also didn't like how pat goes completely crazy at the end. I think that it ends up that she kills her father and everyone thats ever did her wrong. Also how she has none to turn too that kinda is hard to like about this book. One other thing is how controlling her father is it kind of makes it hard to believe. Another thing I didn't like was how it showed the mormon church in a negative way.

Even though this book does have some bad parts I would recommend this book. All books have bad parts. If your looking for a book that will make you cry this is the book for you! Its a great love story. For anyone that likes romances. Though the story line has a roll a coster of events. ...more "
