When I opened up to the first page of "Hope was Here" by Joan Bauer, I knew I found a great book. This book is about a girl named Hope, and she lives with her Aunt Addie. Her Aunt Addie is a Chef and helps restaurants in need of help. The two of them move around a lot, and Hope has to adjust to new places. In this case they are moving to Wisconsin to help a café because the owner is sick with cancer. This book is just like the book "Chains" which is a really good book, and it's about a girl similar to Hope. They both move a lot and are forced to adjust to new circumstances. Isabel in "Chains" is a slave and wants to know where her dad is and wants freedom. Like Isabel, Hope wants to find out who her real father is and who she really is. She can't really do that because her mom lives in Missouri and doesn't like to communicate with Hope. This book is really good for someone that moves to different places and has to make new friends and has a sick loved one because this book is very relatable book. "Hope was Here" is also a good book for anyone that likes realistic fiction and wants a nice short read but has a good story line because it's 185 pages. I would re-read this again any day because it has a great moral, and I could relate to this book. It had to do with friendship, family, trust, and food....more
