"I think it's widespread the feeling that philosophers and philosophical texts are quite often dull, incomprehensible or both (much due to mandatory name like Kant, Hegel, and the like). That said, this book is making me laugh out loud, at least as much as I laughed with a recent read, John Cleese's biography. Partially due to the aphorism format, the rest probably the bleak view on the futility of everything :D" Sep 06, 2025 09:19AM

Domingo Martinez
“There is nothing more potentially hostile than the indigenous ego interpreting the laws of his conqueror upon his own people”
Domingo Martinez, The Boy Kings of Texas: A Memoir

William Blake
“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern.”
William Blake, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell

A.R. Moxon
“Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.

That word is "Nazi." Nobody cares about their motives anymore.

They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?”
A.R. Moxon

Albert Einstein
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
Albert Einstein

George Orwell
“The past was alterable. The past never had been altered. Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.”
George Orwell, 1984
