The Huntley & Palmers biscuit tin in which he was travelling teetered precariously on the edge of the seat as the train juddered to a halt at Haywards Heath.

Ok. Read this several times to understand what was happening. Perhaps Charles Branwell Brockley is a pet of some description - maybe a mouse or a small lizard? Either that or this is a fantasy based story wher a person has been shrunk to the size of a biscuit. I'd prefer the former of these two options but neither may hit the mark.
