It took me soooo long to get through this book, more because i got into a bit of a reading slump halfway through it and had it sitting there untouched for about a month or more. Did this have to do with the book, or my mood though? Probably my mood but well, it certainly wasn't what i expected at all. There were things i liked and things i didn't, i felt like it was missing something; something that ACOTAR and ACOMAF had but this didn't.
And am i the only one who is confused about what retelling this is, or if it even is one?
Like i get it was meant to be a Snow White retelling... but HOW?
I also got a hint of Swan Lake vibes in there aswell, anyone else?
Maybe it was setting up for the next book.. I dont know but i was confused as, what do you guys think?

This novel takes off right after the last one ended, Feyre is now in the Spring Court trying to get as much information as possible about Tamlin's maneuverings and the invading king's plans. Playing a dangerous game of deceit where one slip can mean the end of her world and those she loves, As High Lady of the Night Court she must succeed, for her home and the whole of Prythian depend upon the victory in the war against Hybern and his army.
All the High Lords must pull together and unite forces if they want to save not only themselves but there courts and people, with some resistant and untrusting of others another impossible task is left to Feyre and Rhysand to resolve before Hybern descends upon them all.
When war divides and knowing who the trust is critical for survival , Feyre and Rhysand must determine who is with them and who isn't.
With her sisters Elaine and Nesta now High Fae, discovering their powers, their mating bonds and what it means to be High Fae, Feyre has another problem to overcome, Elaine's heartache and Nesta's aggression. Neither happy about being mated to someone they dont know, proves difficult with Elaine uninterested in Lucien and Nesta hostile against Cassian and pretty much everyone else.
With some much at stake and the Hybern determined to rule or destory, Feyre and Rhysand, with the help of their friends must do whatever they can to defeat the king and bring peace to their land once again.

Okay, so thats pretty much the jist of it.
Now what i liked about this book:

-Feyre Rhysand <3
-Nesta and Cassian<3
-NESTA! <33333
-The Suriel's sacrifice
-Mor!!!!!!! (view spoiler)
-Boss bitch Armen.
-The High Lord meeting.
-Poly relationships, its an actual thing. People can do what they like, and if its having a relationship with more than one person, that is consensual and all parties are made aware , its legit no big deal.
-Healthy relationships.
-The library turned to women's refuge for abused women.
-Threesomes, yeah they happen too. I might not have personally had one but hey each to their own.
-Diversity, and no maybe not as diverse as some may have wanted but you cant have every character different whether its race, skin colour, sexual orientation, etc. Personally how confusing would it be to write and explain everything.. calling an author racist or a bigot because they dont write what you want or you dont agree with how they plan or write their story because it doesn't fit under every single category you want, i suggest you go try writing a book like that yourself, and try not to make it feel forced or pushed into our faces at the same time and see how you go :)
-The sex scenes! here come all the feminists stating how the language and words used are all about male dominance and female submission, animalistic and just plain gross and wrong. Geeeezus, calm your flaps.

what didn't i like:

-Some parts were pretty obvious, like i saw that shit coming a mile away.
-It was missing something i cant quite put my finger on.
-I still dont get how its a retelling of Snow White? Can someone explain.

-The ending was cliche as, WHY YOU DO THIS MAAS?

-Elaine was a boring bitch.
-Lucian can kiss my ass too.
-Feyre's father dying, for so many reasons.
-No one else of great importance really died, in a war? whaaaaat?
-The cliche ending.

Overall i didn't love it like ACOTAR or ACOMAF, but i didn't hate it. It had its strong points and its weaker points, i think Maas did the best she could with what she had and struggled to please everyone because all of us in the goodreads community were hanging by our tits waiting for this book to be released.
Will i read the next one? Yeah probably, even if it isn't Feyre as the main protagonist. I love this world, and most of the characters so i hope its a fav of mine we get to see more of.
My rating is based on the fact i had more good points than bad, my expectations were waaaay too high coming into this and the fact i love this world so much and dont really see how it could have ended any other way even if the ending was cliche. Im excited to see where Maas takes this, who the next protagonist will be and where it will all go from there.
