“People see what they want to see.
You can tell that by the comments readers have made about this book. Magic or tricks, aggravate me. I feel like the magician is withholding information from me and wants me to be amazed that they made me look stupid. I don’t enjoy being tricked but what amazes me is watching other people being tricked. They are usually so in awe that an actor was able to ‘pull one over’ on them.
I liked the writing in this story. It is not very often that you see a writer using different points of view in one story and doing it so successfully. I liked the emotion the author stirred in me when Clair’s dad was teaching her at a young age. I was glad that she saw through her dad (literally) as she got older and called him out on it. I liked that the novel was not predictable but I did get bored several times and it took me longer to read than normal. I would recommend this book but I would definitely tell readers not to read the back cover.
