My mom had been sealed to her first husband, but church policy prohibited her from being sealed to her second husband, my dad.
Crappy policy. Men can be sealed to multiple wives. Women? Not so much. So, if a woman is widowed at a young age with no children, or small children, she’s never able to be sealed to a new husband. Considering LDS promotes young marriages, that’s pretty unfair to ask someone to have his kids sealed to a dead man if she remarries.
