I’m not trying to be an a-hole here, but when you’re talking about mating for the purposes of procreation - you can’t talk about two members of the same gender. It just doesn’t work that way. No matter what you do, half of the DNA has to come from the opposite gender - which means ‘non-mate’ in the case of same sex couples. Which then basically eliminates the ‘mate’ part of it completely.
