"“Oh shit!” was my exclamation. My wife, in the other room, was very concerned. When I explained myself she was relieved that it wasn’t an emergency, but quickly grew bored with my recitation.

A character just stepped forth and I was completely shocked when I recognized him! he has not been named yet. I am grinning ear to ear. I haven’t felt like this in a long time.

Good on you, Mr. Feist!"

Book cover for The Damned (Casca, #7)
Revenge lies solid within the breasts of most men, and no amount of erudite philosophy and sanctimonious moralizing can cover it up completely.

“By the bounteous bottom of sweet Vashtilulu the Buxom! I'm looking forward to this, Our Kandar!”
Kenneth Bulmer, Kandar

Rachel Aaron
“He believed in me, even when there was nothing to believe in.”
Rachel Aaron, The Spirit War

Christopher Buehlman
“What a fabulous kingdom the mind is, and you the emperor of all of it. You can bed the duke's wife and have the duke strangled in your mind. A crippled man can think himself a dancer, and an idiot can fool himself wise. The day a magicker peeks into the thoughts of commoners for some thin-skinned duke or king will be a bad day. Those with callused hands will rise on that day, for a man will only toil in a mine so long as he can dream of sunny fields, and he'll only kneel for a tyrant if he can secretly cut that tyrant's throat in the close theater of his bowed head.”
Christopher Buehlman, The Blacktongue Thief

“The thing is to be always ready to change, to adapt, to fit one's self to the facts of life. a fool fights reality and seeks the impossible; a wise man is always alert to move towards the possible.”
Howard L. Oleck, The Lion of Islam

Glen Cook
“monsters aren’t born, they’re made. That they are memorials which take years of cruelty to sculpt. And that while we should weep for the tortured child who served as raw material, we should permit no sentiment to impede us while we rid the world of the terror strewn by the finished work.”
Glen Cook, Angry Lead Skies
