This book also focuses a lot on giref (bree lost her mother) and on the history and horrors of slavery. It was really emotional but also very very powerful to see Bree be strong for her people and for her ancestors.

Bree is involved with a literal sect of white people where she feels other and is honestly kinda rejected at first unfortunately (although she does make friends that accept her and like her, all the adults from the Order that we saw rejected her and were fucking racist to her) it's really good that she got to bond with other black women, who she trusted in and that helped her a lot, i really liked reading those scenes when they were together

OH AND SOMEONE WE DONT SEE ENOUGH (tho i understand why lol) is Bree's dad, THAT MAN IS LITERALLY AN ANGEL, BEST DAD EVER, HE'S SO SWEET AND LOVING AND URGH MY HEART (view spoiler)

AND THE DIVERSITY like there is lesbian, gay, bi and non binary characters and it's done so well. like its not a big deal, its not their whole personality, it's just a fact we learn once and that it theres no explanation no nothing IT JUST IS LIKE THIS AND I LOVED IT

it's not a full 5 stars for me (tho it's honestly very fucking close) because there is quite a lot of info dumping and it gets confusing sometimes. also the romance, although really fucking cute like Nick is so fucking sweet, it did happen kinda fast in my opinion (view spoiler)

anyway READ THIS FUCKING BOOK MY GOD, I CANT BELIEVE IVE HAD IT JUST SITTING ON MY BOOKSHELF FOR MONTHS ITS AN AMAZING STORY, AN IMPORTANT STORY AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR BLOODMARKED (in a way im thankful to my procrastinating ass because it means i dont have to wait that long for the next book lmaooo, just 2 months WHICH IS ALREADY TOO MUCH DAMMIT I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT) ...more "
