I was not interested in world history and happenings, so I didn’t know exact part about it. Therefore, I had difficulties to understand the book with considering the historical events. Now, I finished reading the book and I used to read the book unconsciously. I often skipped the text when I couldn’t understand it. It also interrupts me to understand the book. Lina and Andrius were the victims of the war. I don’t know the term ‘victim’ is appropriate for them, but I think they are just like a victim. Their enemy, Soviet Union, showed their cruelty. In every part, they bothered people and killed them. I didn’t know the historical facts, so I searched it on the Internet. When I searched it, I was so surprised. By searching it, I do know what happened during the World War 2. I was shocked and have a new perspective on reading this book. In this book, I focused on the relation between Andrius and Lina because they’re the main characters. I love the ending which implies the marriage of them. But, I didn’t like all the others. I was disappointed at the separation of them, the beginning and the atmosphere of the whole story. Actually, I don’t like reading English book, so I hoped that the book would be fun or in nice mood. But, this book was not so that. However, the reason why I like this book although I don’t like this genre is that this book gave me some lessons. First, I could feel the motherhood. I study for the motherhood nowadays, so it was helpful to do so. Second, I got lots of historical knowledge. I think I should research more about that. Finally, I thought that the victims of the war need the attention of the global citizen. They should be respected and helped. All the people should remember them and help or get attention to them. The little attention can give them power. We should do even little action to change something.
In my school, we have own presentation which introduces about their own chapters while reading the book. It was really helpful to read the book. I could know the story more easily and some difficult words. Also, my favorite part of this presentation project was informing new information. Through this, I could know a lot of information. I learned historical, social, literary things even though I read only one book. So, I’m satisfied with our reading project. ...more "
