I still enjoyed the character development but where I was upset at this book was I felt like Maas just didn't have time in 700 some pages to do enough with the characters so Lucien was sent away and Amren stayed reading a book. And for a lot of the book we hardly saw anything with Elain or Nesta until the very end.

I also felt like the book darted from one spot to the next and one important part to the next. This was a hefty book and I feel like I needed more explanation or I would be slapped randomly with a really vague part on one page and then the answer 200 pages later. I enjoy how Maas's books in this series come around full circle but I just felt like someone trying to grasp to all this random information throughout the entirety of this book.

Now lets address the LGBTQ+ community. Since I am so late to the series I was unaware of readers describing their distaste for Maas not having representation in the book/series. I get that. The way Maas addressed it in this book felt rushed and like she just threw it in there to make readers happy. Is that the way to go about it? No. If you are going to put some representation in your characters or books you have got to do it justice and this was not it.

Let's talk about Tamlin. I loved Tamlin in the first book, saw what everyone was saying in the second and had extremely mixed feelings in this book. I feel like he was an easily lovable person in the first book. Tamlin quickly turned into the villain in the second book but it almost felt so rushed and pushing Rhys to be the obvious hero of the second book made it easy to overlook what Tamlin had also gone through and was processing. I know this is thinking super deep into the novel and the details but was his way of protecting her and keeping her safe overbearing? Yes. But had they actually tried to talk about it etc, etc, etc it could of been different. Skip to the third book and it is so wishy washy with Tamlin I was almost getting annoyed. I'm glad she doesn't give one dimensional characters but I also feel like Tamlin isn't given enough time to show his true self. I digress.

I still love Feyre although I get annoyed with her at times. I wanted her to do more in this book when it came to battles etc but then I remember that if it was only her doing crazy, cool stuff I would be annoyed that none of the other characters ever get a chance to do anything.

I was truly hurt by Amren at the end of this book and then how quickly that changed. Towards the end of the book I was having HEAVY emotions. I felt so strong with the words and dialogue in this book and I breezed through the rest of this book. I am excited to start the ACOFAS and hopefully it doesn't ruin this series for me.
