In the book, the main protagonists are a young boy named Jack and is grandfather. His grandfather's name is Mr. Bunting. Mr Bunting used to be a Royal Air Force Pilot in the times of WW2. He flew a legendary plane that was called the Spitfire. As Mr Bunting grew older, he became more forgetful and believed that he was still a war hero and WW2 was still going on. This resulted in changes in his behaviour patterns as he would sometimes believe that he is still in a situation of war. For example, once in the middle of the night, he climbed a church spire in the thought that he was flying his Spitfire. This worries Jack's parents, and they come to the conclusion that Mr Bunting should be sent to an old folks home called Twilight Towers. Jack cares for his grandpa very much and he is a significant part of his life, thus, he does not want Mr Bunting to go to Twilight Towers. One day, he goes missing and nobody has sighted him for a while. His absence is reported in the news and there are hundreds looking for him. Jack gets very worried because his parents strictly stated that if Mr Bunting disappeared again he would have to go to Twilight Towers. The next day, Jack's school goes on a field trip to the Imperial War Museum, where all of the WW2 planes are displayed. When his class passes the Spitfire, Jack hears snoring inside the plane. This is all I have read so far and I am really eager to see what happens because I have stopped at a cliffhanger. I think this is a book for 10-12 year olds but other ages could enjoy it too....more
