She attends a Support Group of a cancer patients and meets with Augustus who has lost his leg because of osteosarcoma. They were attracted to each other, but face their death and knows their remained lifetime is short. They go on a trip to Holland to meet Peter Van Houten, an author of An Imperial Affliction which is her favorite book and after their trip, he told her that his cancer has recurred and spread whole entire his body. He finally has died and surprisingly, Peter Van comes to the funeral and give Hazel the letter from Augustus which is his will and love.
In The Fault In Our Stars, it mainly fills with struggles of Hazel and with love, romance, and tragedy. The struggles are, for example, she is asking herself if that's okay to hurt people who are important for her and eventually be unhappy after she died, and die without any accomplishments in her life and everyone would forget about her. In the story, her only dream is to know what parents of main character in An Imperial Affliction happens after the main character has died. Because if the parents in the book live their life happily even after their daughter has died, then she thought her parents would also live their life happily, so she was really worrying about her parents life because of her death and truly hoping their happiness after her death. The Fault In Our Stars is an awesome book because John Green uses his profound insight, great expression, and writes persuasive and great solutions on Hazel's struggles which was not superficial or naive thinking. I want John Green to change the story to they both marry and spend a marriage life, but Augustus died after 3 months they have married . I think the theme is that we all face death, we will all die someday and it is inevitable, and love can support our life even we have diseases and face death. I learned it's not big thing how long we lived, but how we live as best as we can and I should cherish each day and also feel thank that I don't have any diseases.
Overall, I gave this book a 4/5 stars on Goodreads. I am so moved their love,friendships, and soul mates who lived as hard as they could in that situation, unfair fate they face. I don't know if I could be like them when I face my death and an unfair fate comes. On the other hand, it is such a beautiful happiness moment that they both could spend,share and meet their real loving partner. I would recommend this book to especially to the teenagers and up. There are some examples of family, friendships, love, and cancer which lead me to suggest this book for a mature reader and especially people who distress their life. ...more "
