Love how Mervin Peake takes the time to describe these rather odd positions the characters take, I think it makes the characters both unusual and relatable at the same time. My thought is that most authors only highlight the “common” mannerisms in their writing, and if a character does something unusual it’s either because of a quirky personality or because it’s significant for something to come.
