" ** spoiler alert **The book Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom: My Story of the Selma Voting Rights March is based on historical by the way that it is taking you back of the years of the 1965.The setting of this book was at the time of where the Afri ** spoiler alert **The book Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom: My Story of the Selma Voting Rights March is based on historical by the way that it is taking you back of the years of the 1965.The setting of this book was at the time of where the African Americans could not vote for a mayor or a president.** spoiler alert **The African Americans including many children and people at a young age and surprisingly some of the whites were in favor of helping the African Americans to have their rights to vote ,many of the times they ended up going to jail and the book states that it was like their routine they went to jail,got out of the jail and then they went to jail again just by marching on the blocks they all ended up going to jail.This book is person vs society and I am saying this because it was a bloody Sunday which was a day that many of the people who were on that march that they will never forget and will stay in their lives.Many people on the march including the youngest of them all Lynda Blackmon was their,they were all heading to Edmund Pettus Bridge and they were lots of white people and many sheriffs.The African Americans were told to go back to church but they didn't they stayed and prayed but that didn't help them they were now under attack they even attacked Lynda who was just a child she was hurt.After the next day Lynda wanted to see the governor of Alabama who was George Wallace blaming him for what he had done to them and her.

A major symbol in the story for all the motivation for the African Americans would be Dr Martin Luther King he lead all the people to march and he would help them.No matter what he was brave, he was like a true hero for the African Americans,lead them to many marches especially the one that they marched all the way to Montgomery many didn't last but that didn't stop them from going and some got to their destination and their goal to reach Montgomery.And that is where Dr Martin Luther King gave a full speech surprisingly more people went to go see his speech leaving Bloody Sunday done at last.All the African Americans symbolism segregation they were all being excluded from voting so they formed some type of society and formed many meetings to discuss where their marches would be and the safety for some of the African American,with them all forming a society they would not give up until they had their rights to vote and they did nothing in the book really stopped them from getting to their destination and they reached their goal by the help of Dr Martin Luther King at the end the African Americans won they now had the power to vote and the rights without the permission of the whites.

I was angry when the African Americans were marching and all of a sudden they were being under attacked and that hit me because they weren't doing anything to them and the worst part was that how would a sheriff lay hands on Lynda which she was a girl at a young leaving her with getting hit in the face leaving her face blood and the other thing that I was really disappointing was that many of the African Americans were left dead and some of hospitals didn't even accept them cause of their skin color which was dumb by the way that a patient of the hospital is about to die and is in conscious.This is one reason of why I found it disappointing.I'd compare this author Lynda Blackmon with Steve Sheinkin by the way that they both wrote books that were historical and that involve some type of segregation from the African Americans with the whites and some ways that they are excluded in some things.They both have really strong opinions and have really good data that they collected that got turned to a book and showed how things were handled back then by being different from others.

I rate this book a 5 stars because i'm starting to get into historical books and just by reading this book and other books like these you will start to learn more about segregation and some new facts.I would only recommend this book to people who like to learn more about the past and would like to learn more about life of the African Americans back then of how they were being treated.This book will leaved you impressed of how many people Dr Martin Luther King lead and how he was a true inspiration to all the African Americans. ...more "

" The Port Chicago 50 this book is historical by the way that they take place back then in the 1900.The setting of this book takes place when segregation was still on and they the sailors had to go to many places like to wars and by the way that they w The Port Chicago 50 this book is historical by the way that they take place back then in the 1900.The setting of this book takes place when segregation was still on and they the sailors had to go to many places like to wars and by the way that they were sent their to work on loading ammunition.***Spoiler Alert***The sailors and Joe Small a.k.a the leader of the sailors for their decisions by the way that they were forced to to load ammunition and they were all scared by the incident when they were under attack by loading ammunition and they were forced by the officers to load but they were taking the risk to for it to happened again.This book is person vs person by the way that the sailors had to go against the government and the officers by the way that they were also being segregated in the port and being forced by the officers to load ammunition and they even needed to go to court for their rights of how some were being treated and how they were forced to work and they ended up inside their prison for not working.

The setting of this book is important to the theme because it shows you what they sailors had to go through by the way that they were being tossed around to load ammunition and this is important by the way that they the sailors had to go many places by the way of segregation.I was surprised that the book included many places that they had to be in.All the sailors symbolism segregation that's what all this book is about by the way they were treated differently from the whites and they could not decide what type of position they could choose to work only the whites and that was not fair all the whites got all the things inside the port.So then the soldiers had to fight for what they wanted because they did not want to load ammunition by the way that they were all African American,they took a risk by the way that it was a dangerous job and they could not complain for what they are doing but really all of them who are taking the risk are all African Americans really their were no whites.That was really unfair so they then decided to tell the port for them fighting for their rights of segregation but at the end it had to involve them going to prison by the way that they were not going to work for their port.Later on they had to also involve a type of court of them the sailors having to fight for their right to explain the reasons of why they aren't going back to work to all the sailors were all imprisoned and they had to all go to court.So these were all the reasons of how all the sailors in the port represent the meaning of segregation.

The narrator which is Joe Small was a true inspiration to the sailors by the way he wasn't scared what the officers were going to do with him and the sailors because the sailors and Joe did not want to load ammunition of what had happened in the incident when they were under attack.And Joe wanted the sailors to be strong mostly every solider was at a young age and he was too, they had to go to court to face who was saying all these things but nobody answered by the way they had to be strong and to not tell them that it was Joe Small who was saying all these things to the port.This is the reasons of how Joe Small was a reliable person in this book.

I rate this book 5 stars by the way that this is the first book I had read that was historical and I really liked it and shows how many sailors took the risk of being a sailor.I would only recommend this book to the people who like segregation and people who like things about sailors and fighting for their rights these are the only things I would recommend readers who like these things.This book will leave you impressed by the way that a young person who is Joe Small was a leader of all the sailors of all age asking for their rights imagine it many people don't do that many things that he did that he lead his sailors. ...more "
