This exciting prequel serves as an introduction to the main character Daphne, who has a rather frightening experience while enjoying the sights and scenery of Old Town in Chania on the coastline of Crete. She knows she is being followed by a dark clad stranger but can never get a good glimpse of him. As Daphne walks through the winding streets, the author treats us with detailed description of the lovely town, making me walk through my own memories of lovely Greek towns. From the quaint little shops, the friendly people, local food, and the sun kissed beaches you get a glimpse of Greece through Daphne’s eyes. But all is not as tranquil and lovely as it seems on the surface, and she is feeling true desperation in trying to lose this threatening stranger. This is just the beginning of her exciting experience, one that will continue in the upcoming book The Taverna at the Edge of Night, coming out in May of 2026.I read a free copy of the prequel provided by the author, but the opinions are all my own.
