"I think Shaw is doing a good job of easing into the relationship that Higgins and Eliza are to develop. The overbearing contrast in the nature of the characters adds to the anticipation; right now, I don't really see how two completely different and seemingly incompatible characters could form anything resembling a harmonious relationship." — Feb 06, 2012 06:50AM

"I'm really enjoying Okonkwo's character. The fact that he harbors this confused desire to stray as far as possible from his father's weaknesses adds a layer of dimension when the Christians come and try to convert everyone and everything. On the topic of colonialism, I'm also interested by the fact that it's not portrayed as an outright evil, and I'm coming to sympathize with Mr. Brown's character." — Jan 15, 2012 11:57PM

"This book feels like a shady project you just invested your money in--the premise seemed promising, but after a while you feel like the project director doesn't know what he's doing. In the first few pages of the book I was able to make out a captivating theme, however as the book has gone on, all I see is a dull, dense repitition of that same theme. I feel like someone could tell this story better in 10 pages." — Dec 11, 2011 08:07PM
