THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE!!!!

Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book except for the Nessian content, and I felt like the series had been wrapped up well in ACOWAR, so I was excited to see where this book went and I was NOT disappointed!!!

I was never really a fan of Nesta, but the journey her character goes on is so interesting and in-depth and important. This book made me appreciate and love the character of Nesta and I really felt I was travelling this journey of self acceptance alongside her.

The friendship group of Nesta, Gwyn and Emerie was so strong and I loved reading about their friendship as it grew stronger. The way they were all so supportive and held each other up throughout the book was lovely to watch, and the final part of the book truly showed how much they had all grown together.

Of course, Cassian and Nesta's relationship was a key focus of the book and.... well SJM definitely made the jump from YA to Adult ;) Watching those two learn to allow themselves to love each other made me love them even more (and it also made me cry a few times as well). And ofc I enjoyed reading more about Cassian, him being my favourite character :)

I also really enjoyed seeing Feysand from an outsider's perspective. Although it's very clear that Nesta doesn't like Rhysand (and the sentiment is very much returned), it didn't really stop me from enjoying Feyre and Rhysand's dynamic from afar. And of course they deal with something very difficult which may or may not have had me in tears at the end.

As for Azriel, though he wasn't in this book much, he was definitely used as comedic relief, especially as a buffer between Cassian and Nesta. And having read his exclusive chapter I can definitely say that stronger relationship potential for him lies away from Elain.

I could say so much more about all the aspects of this book that I loved and all of the important issues it raised and tackled, but I think I would be here forever (and I would end up spoiling half the events of the book). Not to mention that it had me crying over a sentient house...
I really really really enjoyed this book, and I can't wait to see who SJM takes us to see next.

May 2024:

At the heart of this novel is the most beautiful story of mental health, healing and self acceptance. I don't think I've ever read anything like it, it's amazing

Also how did I write such a long review the first time I read this? ...more "
