Going into this book I was scared of it; scared of being disappointed. I never liked Nesta in the previous books (the word "bitch" comes to mind) and when I saw it was written in the third POV instead “For every Nesta out there- climb the mountain.”

Going into this book I was scared of it; scared of being disappointed. I never liked Nesta in the previous books (the word "bitch" comes to mind) and when I saw it was written in the third POV instead of the first... major disappointing. But that disappeared quickly while reading the book.

So I didn't like Nesta in the beginning. She was a bitch that did nothing to help Feyre provide for their family and spent the money Ferye earned on frivolous items. Then in the Fey world she went on this whole refusing to train/ help others tantrum but demanding they protect one of her sisters?! In this book we get not only an insight in why Nesta is doing this to herself but also the amazing growth that people who suffered trauma goes through. Her story was different from the previous ones because it focused more on the characters, their growth and self-help instead of an upcoming war (there were little elements of that as well of course). Her story really speaks to mental health for someone who reacts/protects themselves with sharp words and anger.

And then our beautiful Cassian (*sigh*). I didn't think someone could rival with Rhysand in my opinion but Maas has the quality to let me fall in love with all her male character (what can I say? I am a sucker for the alpha male protectiveness). Cassian is maybe the only one (together with Amren) that have some understanding for Nesta. And his relationship with Nesta was so well developed. He knows Nesta as a victim, killer, broken girl, self-sufficient woman, and general badass. He's seen it all and he keeps coming back for her. Together, these two were the perfect combination for a hot chaotic relationship that had you swooning, cackling, and gasping (and sometimes tearing your hair out with frustration but the good kind).

I am also glad that Nesta story differs from the others in terms that she seeks out her own friends and people she trusts, further more defining that she is different. She is still a part of the inner circle but not as much as our previous characters have been. She finally starts to fully embrace who she is and in the process of accepting herself she helps others who suffered traumas do the same. Without spoiling anything, the mission that she takes on herself is insane but I am so there for it to see it work out further. And the best part of it all is that it doesn't feel like the "need for a redemption arc" kind of thing that happens a lot in books. It felt genuine and true. It felt natural for her to do this and become this.

Lastly, all the parts on the mountain were so good and gave me serious hunger games vibes but not in a bad way. The twist at the end of it... I never saw that coming and I was in major shock (and I wasn't recovered for the next shock either).

To sum up it, it was an epic story of redemption. Of a girl finding herself again after tragedy. And along the way she makes friends, and a lover who listens to her, who supports her rough recovery and not always her actions. I can't wait to see how she further grows along with the other in the next book. I need more stars so that I can give it all to this book not only for the story itself but for the emotions it drawn out of me; the tears and the laughter, and the feeling of needing more right after I finished it. Speaking of that, who would be the main character we will read more about now? I can't wait to find it out. ...more "
