This was exactly what Hafid strived for. He wanted to be the best Salesman in the world. Throughout this story the The Greatest Salesman in the World, there are many lessons that can help many people despite their profession through the scrolls provided in the story.
The way that my parents decided to raise me has a lot of parallels with this story. Like Hafid, my parents wanted me to pursue dreams I had of being the best at anything I wanted to be. A great example would be working for my black belt. I told my parents before the age of six that one day I would become a black belt. They never doubted me, and always told me to speak in that positive manner. Hafid was the same way. In order for him to become the greatest salesman, he wanted to learn from the already crowned salesman himself.
The senior salesman saw the passion in Hafid’s eyes, but he realized that he still had some things to learn. The task Hafid was given was to sell a robe. There were no rules as to how much or how long it should take him. He just had to sell it. With a goal in mind with no road map how to get there is where I person grows. This is what my parents did for me, as I look back on life so far. They never told me how to from point A to B. Instead, they guided me there. Throughout Hafid’s quest to sell his robe, he came across a woman and her newborn child whom was not clothed. His heart and conscious was too big to just leave them stranded. So, he decided to provide the baby with warmth from his robe, and requested no payment. He wasn’t sure if the senior salesman would be upset for not bringing home a profit. Little did Hafid know, the lesson of selflessness was what senior salesman wanted Hafid to learn.
After Hafid sold his robe, the salesman felt it was his time to leave the earth, and left Hafid with scrolls that would help him become the greatest salesman, as well as a great person. Reading the story, I found that many of these scrolls applied to my life as well. One of them said, “I will persist until I succeed.” I directly relate to this statement as I did just that working for my black belt. No matter what gets in ones way, if they have a goal, no obstacle should stop them, therefore persisting until the job is done. Another scroll that stuck out to me was “I am nature’s greatest miracle.” Growing up and currently, my dad always tells me before I go to bed “you’re the greatest miracle in the world.” I never understood what he meant until recently. Every living creature is different; there is no person like another in the world. Everyone has something that’s truly special about him or her, and they should realize it. Many people take themselves for granted and always doubt themselves because other chose to find their purpose first. If I could, I would help as many people I can realize they are a great miracle as well.
Reading this story made so much sense to my life. The scrolls just recited what my parents tell me all the time. Pursuing anything in life is going to include multiple obstacles. That’s just the way success works. One must experience failure to understand what it is to work and succeed for something. The scrolls provided throughout the story really dig deep into things we all encounter and experience everyday. For example, there will always be someone trying to mess with ones emotions. It’s up to the person being tormented to allow someone else to hurt them. Are you someone who allows money to control your life? Did you ever receive a raise and immediately get excited as if you just won the lotto? Well, if the answer is yes, then money does control your life. Many people fail to see that there are many alternatives in this world when it comes to surviving without having the might dollar bill control them. The main issue is that large majorities of people have a fixed mindset, and are not open to change. This is what Robert Kiyosaki explains throughout his book Rich Dad, Poor Dad. He shows the power that the dollar bill has on peoples lives, as well as how to transform that power into something within oneself to become rich.
Robert growing up always considered himself to have two dads. One was his rich dad, and the other was his poor dad. His poor dad was his biological father who had a PH.D and some other degrees. His rich dad was his best friend, Mike’s father. He was a self-taught man in financial education. He believed in working smarter not harder. He also never finished entered college, let alone completed eight grade. Knowing the facts on these two men, if a person were to see them in the street, they would automatically assume the “educated man” was more successful. Why? Many people don’t even know the answer to that question. Education is good to have, but wouldn’t it make sense to be educated on something that affects each and every one of our daily lives?
Money is something that every person on this planet never seems to have enough of, as well as the urge to have more of it at all times. Visualize this: a person throws a piece of steak into the wild safari. Every carnivore that spots that meat will run and fight for their lives for that one slab of meat. This is exactly the same concept with money. Robert explains this is why so many people are poor, and will always stay that way. You see, there’s something called seeing short term and long term. Robert explains this as seeing what will benefit you in the moment, rather than planning out what is to follow the present. This often leads people to jumping at every little “temporary high” that are offered to him or her. Yes, this includes raises that people get on their job. If people really think that raises are making them richer, they might want to think again. Raises usually come with a price. It may come as a shock, but the people who claim to “do what they want when they want” are the people who are barking at the feet of their bosses. If that’s being rich and independent, then this world should do some reevaluating.
As Robert grew up, he learned these mediocre laws from his poor father. Go to school, get good grades, go to college, and get a good job. His rich dad told him the complete opposite. He told him that he needed to work for himself, and turn his assets into his own income. It’s a lot more difficult to put into action, than just voicing. But at the end of the day, once the boss is YOU, it’s up to yourself whether you succeed or not. These little lessons are taught throughout the book, and can potentially result in great things. Depends what dreams people have.
Many people believe that success is only for certain people. That often results in people not trying to stand outside of the box and be there own person. I enjoyed reading this book very much, and I just might read it again because there are many lessons in here that many people need to hear. On a scale of 1-10, I give this book a 10, because it can make one see the world in a whole new light. Success and prosperity is there for those who are willing to persevere to their destination. ...more "
