They start a civilization with rules, while trying to have fun at the same time. Ralph is the leader of the civilization, and Piggy is the one that the boys dislike the most. They make fun of him a lot, mostly because of his weight. After a while they realize how hard it gets to live without a food supply and adults, so they go crazy. Now they want to get rescued, but they don’t know how to survive anymore. They end up doing something insane. They learn to be careful with your actions, because you could end up doing something bad.

I believe that Lord of the Flies does fit the genre satire. Satire is supposed to have humor about a serious topic. A satirical poem is Mirror, Lie to me. A quote from it is “Are those horrid wrinkles? Is that a double chin?”. This brings humor to a topic that the character thinks is a serious matter. Harrison Bergeron is a satirical short story. A line from this is, “Even as I stand here, crippled hobbled sickened, I am a greater ruler than any man who ever lived! Now watch me become what I can become.” This is referring to someone who is injured, who wants to become just like everybody else, but it still uses humor. The song Royals by Lorde, is a satirical song. A line from it is, “But every song’s like gold teeth, grey goose, trippin’ in the bathroom.” This is saying how they don’t want to be rich, because they think they do stupid things as rich people. They indicate this by using humor about how the royals live.

I enjoyed this book because the author added a lot of detail to the book. A passage that has a lot of detail is, “ The great rock loitered, poised on one toe, decided not to return, moved through the air, fell, struck, turned over, leaped droning through the air and smashed a deep hole in the canopy of the forest.” This passage has so much detail, while just focusing on one topic. I think people that love satire books would like Lord of the Flies, because it has a lot of serious information, but in a funny way. So if you are looking for a great book to read, get “Lord of the Flies”, and start reading today. ...more "
