Satyajit Ray
“Somehow I feel that an ordinary person–the man in the street if you like–is a more challenging subject for exploration than people in the heroic mold. It is the half shades, the hardly audible notes that I want to capture and explore. […] My films are about human beings, human relationships, and social problems. I think it is possible for everyone to relate to these issues. On a certain level, foreign audiences can appreciate Indian works, but many details are missed. For example, when they see a woman with a red spot on her forehead, they don’t know that this is a sign showing that she is married, or that a woman dressed in a white sari is a widow. Indian audiences understand this at once; it is self-evident for them. So, on certain level, the cultural gap is too wide. But on a psychological level, on the level of social relations, it is possible to relate. I think I have been able to cross the barrier between cultures. My films are made for an Indian audience, but I think they have bridged the gap.”
Satyajit Ray

Justin Alcala
“Non fiction? Non fiction?! Listen, reality is what got me into this mess in the first place.”
Justin Alcala

Seneca
“Withdraw into yourself, as far as you can. Associate with those who will make a better man of you. Welcome those whom you yourself can improve. The process is mutual; for men learn while they teach.”
Seneca, Letters from a Stoic

Seneca
“Nothing is burdensome if taken lightly, and nothing need arouse one's irritation so long as one doesn't make it bigger than it is by getting irritated.”
Lucius Annaeus Seneca, Letters from a Stoic

Matt Damon
“Sean: Do you think you're alone?

Will: What?

Sean: Do you have a soul-mate?

Will: Define that.

Sean: Someone who challenges you in every way. Who takes you places, opens things up for you. A soul-mate.

Will: Yeah. Shakespeare, Nietzsche, Frost, O'Connor, Chaucer, Pope, Kant…

Sean: They're all dead.

Will: Not to me, they're not.

Sean: But you can't give back to them, Will.

Will: Not without a heater and some serious smelling salts, no…

Sean: That's what I'm saying, Will. You'll never have that kind of relationship in a world where you're afraid to take the first step because all you're seeing are the negative things that might happen ten miles down the road.”
Matt Damon, Good Will Hunting
