Everything Everything is from the point of view of a 18 year old girl named Maddy. Maddy has lived most of her life in her house with since she was really young, the reason she does this is because her mother claims that she has a rare condition called SCID that causes can lead to many bad results if she were to leave her house. Maddy lives just with her mom because her brother and dad died in a car crash, Maddys mom is a nurse but Maddy also has a personal nurse that she has become very close to named Carla. Since Maddy doesn’t go outside her house, she has built a really strong relationship with her mom. Maddy thinks that her life is so boring and she thinks that nothing good ever happens to her. But a few days later a boy moves in next door to her named Olly. Maddy starts to watch Olly very carefully because she believes that she doesn't have anything better to do. Olly starts to notice Maddy as well, they start communicating with paper through their windows because by luck there rooms are next to one and other. They soon exchange phone numbers and start texting each other. They both start really liking each other even though they have never met. Throughout the book Maddy figures out what's really important to her and also some lie that she never would have believed.
I think that Nicola really brought Maddy to life throughout the book with a lot of detail that seems like Maddy is standing right next to you as you are reading the book. This book had times where there was a chapter with so much conflict and then then the next chapter everything became really chill, which for some reason made me love the book. Another thing that made me love the book is how the most unexpected things happen but for expected reasons. There is really no book that I could compare Everything Everything to because it is just so unique and like no book that I have ever read. If I were to pick one character that I like the most I think that it would be Carla, Carla has been with Maddy since Maddy was very young and she may be her nurse but she is also someone that Maddy could share things with. Carla reminds me of my friends because I know that I can trust them no matter what and they can always take care of me like Carla does for Maddy.
I think that all young adults should get a chance to read Everything Everything because it is such an engaging book that you can learn many lessons from. It has definitely became one of my favorite books that I would definitely read again in the future. As Maddy says, “life is a gift. Don’t forget to live it.” This quote really meant alot to me when I read it, Maddy says this right before a really important event happens. I totally recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good book to get hooked. As Maddy always says, “There's more to life than being alive.” ...more "
