"The characters have carried the tension I noticed from the beginning throughout their journey of finding shelter. I believe Ruby is thinking that life is over because so much devastating news has come upon her and her family. After learning more about Simon I think Ruby just really needs to give him a chance because he isn't anything like what Ruby described him as.
