"Just started on about page 100. I've found Banks' Culture series to be full of great ideas in the past but sometimes he's very guilty of just jerking the reader around, for no good reason other than he can. Finished this long ago, so long that I've forgotten lots of the details! It turns out that I always seem to like *parts* of the Culture books much more than the whole. This one is no different."
