"The book ends on a depressing note as the war descends upon Devon and the soldiers set up on campus. I personally think Devon was figuratively fighting a war throughout the entire book, but now it is literally involving them. The characters around campus are having a hard time dealing with the death of their classmate. The war to me represents Genes need for personal conflict against a personal enemy in Finny." — Feb 28, 2018 05:38PM

"Frank never came to terms with who he was or he never figured out right from wrong. From his family and friends turning a blind eye to these actions from when he was younger how could Frank know right from wrong? David learned more from his Uncle's actions, then he learned from any other family member. I think this was because early in his life his Uncle meant more to him than his father. David has fully matured." — Dec 02, 2017 04:22PM

I was shocked when Anita made a "promise" to her father that she would spread her wings and fly referring back to the butterflies that went missing and were disappeared by El Jefe. Anita also makes an odd reference to when she becomes an adult in the future. Stories she will tell her kids. Anita has finally grown into her role as a young women." — Jan 30, 2018 05:22PM
