I cannot wait to unfold this day, this week, this year. That sort of enthusiasm and vitality, I think, might be the operative definition of “youthfulness”—that sense of endlessly unspooling possibility.
I like how in this edition the author reflects on how her views may or may not have changed on certain subjects or things, because it’s a reflection on how we ourselves in life change how we feel about things as time passes, and it also helps dispel any pre conceptions someone might have going into this book - knowing what she thinks now as she’s perceived from her writing and experiences. This thought in particular caught my attention in how she talks about youth and old age in terms of seeing it as more of a positive feeling as opposed to a length of time that causes stress when thought about in a negative way.
