"I’ve only heard good things on this, and after the first chapter I want to keep reading 😊 🙌🏻" Jan 25, 2024 05:17AM

Book cover for After Darkness Falls (After Darkness Falls, #1)
"Oh, come off it. Stop treating me like a damn kid and tell me! If there's something wrong with me, I need to know." "There's nothing wrong with you," Mikar practically growled. "Nothing," he repeated, for emphasis.

I love this highlight, I really do. I really felt something from it when I read it. Chloe has been judged by her father's actions for so long she just assumes something must be wrong with her. I really liked this show of emotion from Mikar telling her nothing is wrong with her, especially when their friendship isn't overly emphasized on in the book and he has this air of mystery about him.

Pierce Brown
“My chair rolls to a stop. his voice cut short, followed by a thump and sliding sound. My wheelchair rolls forward again. I look back and see Ragnar pushing it innocently along. Sevro isn't in the hallway behind us. I frown, wondering where he went, till he bursts out of a side passage.
"You! Troll!" Sevro shouts. "I'm a terrorist warlord! Stop throwing me. You made me drop my candy!" Sevro looks at the floor of the hallway. "Wait. Where is it? Dammit, Ragnar. Where is my peanut bar? You know how many people I had to kill to get that? Six! Six!"
Ragnar chews quietly above me, and though I'm probably mistaken, I think I see him smile.”

“If a builder and an architect sit at the same table, does one role become more like the other? Or do they work better together because of it?”

John Gwynne
“I shall stay and tell my tale, hope that it may serve some purpose, that eyes shall see it and learn, that the future will not repeat the mistakes of the past. That is my prayer, but what use is prayer to a god that has abandoned all things . . .”
John Gwynne, Malice
