Okay, so, I don't really have anything negative to say about this book, other than I want more Ronan. And Adam. And Blue. And Noah... I just want more of everyone! I don't really know what to expect goi Ahhhh. This series. These characters. Fantastic.

Okay, so, I don't really have anything negative to say about this book, other than I want more Ronan. And Adam. And Blue. And Noah... I just want more of everyone! I don't really know what to expect going in to the last book but I'm really hoping it'll be satisfying, if not totally heartbreaking.

Ronan, still, a very interesting character. I could read a whole series about him and not get bored. I really liked seeing him and Blue slowly but surely come to an understanding, kind of, and bond a little bit more. Because previously Blue really disliked him (similar to how Adam felt about him in the earlier books, but it looks like now that they're learning more about him and understanding him better and growing more themselves, they're coming around). It was also nice to see him opening up more to Adam and learning to trust somebody.

Adam went through major character development in this book. He started to let go of his resentment of Gansey and started to finally, finally let people in. He stood up to his father. He learned to live with Cabeswater being a part of him. So many good things, I was really happy. It was also nice to just see him trying with his friends. Actively trying not to fight with them or push them away.

Blue was wonderful, as ever. Noah was...creepy, but precious. Gansey, love him to bits. Wish he wasn't about to die and kind of surprised he hasn't found out by this point. Mr. Gray, I actually kind of like now, which is surprising. Greenmantle can suck a dick, although he is pretty funny.

Also: why have I never heard the name Piper before? Piper is life goals. I loved her, she's amazing. From her first introduction I was like "who is this woman and how can I marry her?" What a great villain, oh my god.

Blue and Gansey. Blue...and...Gansey. How do I feel about this doomed ship. It's so hopeless and bittersweet, I just want all the obstacles out of the way so they can at least have something. But no, they can't even kiss. Curse you, Stiefvater. But honestly, they're so lovely and sad and I just want them to have a chance at being happy.

Adam and Ronan, however...Wow. I was hoping for more development in this book and I got it. I was surprised to find out that Adam knows about Ronan's crush on him...and doesn't seem to have any negative feelings about it. In fact, I'm now extremely confident that Adam is going to return Ronan's feelings and something is definitely going to happen between them. And they bonded in this book! In their weird, Adam-and-Ronan kind of way. Ronan opened up to Adam, which was sweet, and Adam...stopped assuming that he knew Ronan and gave him a chance. He also stopped closing himself off so much from his friends, which allowed them to become closer. And they looked at each other...a lot! Hopefully in the final book, we move past the just-looking part. They're oddly a good pair, like when Adam is sitting outside upset over Persephone and Ronan stays to sit beside him and is all like "The fuck would I talk about?" I don't know why, but that little moment was really endearing to me. I really would like to see them get together eventually.
