fabulous book, exhaustively researched, beautifully written. an overly maligned historical figure who shaped his own childhood utterly brutal society in groundbreaking ways: elevating women, making laws apply to rulers as well the people, eliminating slavery and torture, promoting adoptions. His children didn’t always follow, but he was a man of faith and character. I have been to Mongolia and with their independence they have returned to their roots in Genghis Khan, it’s a wonderful mesmerizing place.
