The beginning of the book makes good and bad gray, not black and white. The book is about a school shooter, Peter, and all the people that cause him to do and the people that want to help out in the aftermath. Jodi uses foreshadowing very well to tell the future of the story without writing it down. She leaves the reader asking why would he shoot people that never bullied him, but then explains it later in the book.Something I did not like about the book was that there were a lot of characters to get to know, and the Character the narrator was narrating changed every couple pages. Sometimes this was hard to understand. Other wise I thought that the writing was great, the story was great, and the twist at the end was very unpredicted. Another thing I liked was that Peter realized that he was not alone in all of it. He learned that people do care about him, and believe that what is going on in some schools is not right. The character building was amazing. Each character had to find who they really were and what they believed in. This played really well with the twist at the end, which I wont say for those who haven't read it. I’m not sure who had to figure out who they were more in the book, Josie or Peter. Josie was one of the bullies girlfriends. She thought she loved him, but slowly realizes that she maybe is just being forced to by him and her friends. She also feels depressed because she feels like she doesn’t have real friends, like they just put on fake faces and pretend to like her for the popularity. Peter has to figure out what he is going to do about the bullying in his flashbacks. He gets confused about his sexuality because the bullies call him gay all the time. He starts to believe them, but one of the gay teachers says he is about as straight as they come. Then he confronts Josie about his feeling, only getting him more bullied. He doesn’t care about being popular, he just doesn’t want to be hated. ...more "
