FASCINATING, but I put it down just when all the different players were getting thrown together in the mix and I lost track of who was who. I really wanted to understand and retain what I read, so will have to pick up again later and get through it. Definitely enjoyed relearning about rockefeller, the wildcaters, and ida tarbell and how the oil industry changed america. This book takes you all the way through to Pres. Bush Sr.. so, i was only at the beginning... learning how the Shell oil industry started, versus the Standard oil trust, etc....more

Fascinating to understand the history of why people believe the way they do and is a respectful writing of these beliefs. Explained well the difference between logos and mythos in the introduction to set the tone for the book....more
