She goes to Tahiti. But it was so not boring, so compelling and readable and interesting, that I got a whole new layer of respect for Gilbert. I had only read Eat Pray Love, and while I liked it, I don’t really go around admitting it. Also, I had a really horrid date to go see the movie, which was kind of cheesy (the movie, not the date; the date was horrid. Afterward he took me to eat the spiciest Indian food ever, with our hands, so picture me salivating from each of the glands on my face that can produce liquid as I smear hot dal around a giant plate while sitting on the ground and talking about the movie. Fun).
Beautifully researched, with characters who are so terribly and wonderfully human, complete with the bad decisions and shortsightedness and confusion that comes with the status....more
