was all eyes on Fast Forward, but second to that,
I had a very difficult time finishing this book. It took almost 75 pages to get used to Demon’s voice without having to re-read each page more than once to comprehend exactly what he was saying. That effort was worth the investment as it added a first hand narrative reality to the story.
The book greatest value is its coverage of important topics of the drug scourge in the USA and the sad forever struggle if children lost in the foster system or in abusive households.
The plot of the first half of the book was engaging and kept me interested. After that the ongoing depressing saga of deep, drug dependency, and its fall out on everyone became too predictable and drawn out. I was relieved when the book finally ended and was also relieved and almost surprised when it ended on a happy hopeful note. Sadly in reality I suspect people who follow Demon’s journey rarely have such a happy ending.
