we live and breathe words. It was books that kept me from taking my own life after I thought I could never love anyone, never be loved by anyone again. It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone.

I really really enjoyed this reread. I always felt like this was the weakest book of the trilogy because it is the one where the plot progresses the least. This book is filled with sporadic flashes of events, that is hard to understand the meaning of if you do not know how the story will end. A lot of the things that happens in this book is more of a buildup to the next book and many of the things that happen have very little to nothing to do with each other. But despite this I feel like this might have become one of my new favourites in the series. The way Clare explores her characters and their relationships to each other (all of them) is what makes the ending of clockwork princess so worthwhile. Because the background information and the character studies of the characters in this book makes you incredibly attached to the characters. I really enjoyed reading about Tessa and will as well as Tessa and Jem, and of course Charlotte and Henry are so adorable in this book, and this book (or this series more specifically) has my favourite portrayal of Magnus, because I think that he is really allowed to shine in this book, not only as a love interest, but also as a friend and someone trustworthy, who does things because he is the best of humanity and not just because he is in love with someones brother. I felt though as if Jem was done an injustice in this book, as he is one of the few characters who is not explored on his own but merely in his relation to the other characters, although there is one quote that for me really encompasses his character (She had taken him for granted, she thought with surprise and shame, watching the flickering candlelight. She had assumed his kindness was so natural and so innate, she had never asked herself whether it cost him any effort. Any effort to stand between Will and the world, protecting each of them from the other. Any effort to accept the loss of his family with equanimity. Any effort to remain cheerful and calm in the face of his own dying.) and the way he chooses to be kind, that he is not born that way. Anyways I really enjoyed understanding this time how everything fits together and picking up on foreshadowing I have not noticed before ((view spoiler)) and over all just being around these characters again.
