1st read:
I love this book so much I already know I'll be thinking about it forever. I absolutely adore Ilya and Shane with every bone in my body. I loved seeing their relationship grow, like, you know they love each other in HR, but then it's multiplied ten times in TLG. What they have is so big and overwhelming, it's impossible to contain it.

There were a few times when I was frustrated with Shane and wanted to give him a friendly shove for being a dick about insisting on the secrecy while Ilya was clearly struggling with having no one in his corner. It was heartbreaking to see Ilya spiral into depression. He sacrificed so much for their relationship and it all went unnoticed for so long. Shane did have a pretty big wakeup call and redeemed himself, so it's all good and whatever but a smack to the head wouldn't hurt, because Ilya truly did not deserve to be treated like that. ("I already chose you, Hollander."?? I cried.)

Anyway I would still defend Shane with my life because "Shane loved Ilya so much it physically hurt to contain it some days." He may be a little oblivious sometimes but he would always choose Ilya above all else. (When he realized Ilya's texts were supposed to be his last words during the airplane emergency?? I cried. When he went through Ilya's Instagram, sobbing as he realized he messed up?? I sobbed with him.) I think he's deeply insecure about a lot of things like not being good enough for either Montreal or Ilya, or like his inexperience with men, which is why sometimes he'd rather pick a fight with Ilya instead of sit with his anxieties. He struggles with low self worth and perfectionism, which results in destructive behaviour like his weird diet that borders on disordered eating. Really, I just want to give the guy a hug.

Have I mentioned how much I love Ilya?? He's the biggest softie with the biggest heart, the most vulnerable, playful, romantic, devoted… he's literally everything to me.

I already miss them so much I don't think I can stop myself from rereading this book all the time. ...more "
