"So far, the most entertaining book I've read this year! Really like the tension between the main characters. They feel like really fleshed out characters with their own faults. I also love the descriptions of the main character shifting. Very body horror! Super cool. Can't wait to find out what happens next." Jul 29, 2026 01:01PM

Sarah Addison Allen
“I don’t know how to do temporary.” “Then don’t. Believe it’s permanent. Either it will be or it won’t.” Claire sucked in a small, deep breath, like just before a shot at the doctor’s office. “That will hurt.” “Love always hurts. That’s one thing I know you know,” Sydney said. “But it’s worth it. That’s what you don’t know. Yet.”
Sarah Addison Allen, Garden Spells

Holly Black
“Do not reveal your skill with a blade. Do not reveal your mastery over glamour. Do not reveal all that you can do. Little did Prince Dain know that my real skill lies in pissing people off.”
Holly Black, The Cruel Prince

Jonathan Stroud
“She was blond, slim, and pouty, which would have given me three good reasons to dislike her even if she’d been a sweet lass who spent her free time tending sick hedgehogs.”
Jonathan Stroud, The Whispering Skull

Alexandra Christo
“Elian is so much like the waters he plunders. Still and peaceful on the surface, but beneath there is madness.”
Alexandra Christo, To Kill a Kingdom

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
“I may die; but first you, my tyrant and tormentor, shall curse the sun that gazes on your misery. Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.”
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Frankenstein: The 1818 Text
