Everyone must work together to try to all stay alive. Alive is a book that you can’t let go of. While reading the book, there wasn’t one time where I was bored. I always wanted to keep reading to see what will happen next. Even though I didn’t finish the whole book, I could still easily grasp the story, as it written in perfection. Piers Paul Read couldn’t have described this event any better. There were times where I was about to cry due to the things happening, but there was also times where I couldn’t stop laughing. This book has everything for the reader.

Even though it was hard to find anything wrong with this book, I still found a couple weaknesses throughout reading. I feel like the ending parts could have been a little more unique, as I basically knew what was going to happen before even reading it. Piers Paul created a very good ending, but I feel like it would’ve been even better if it was a little more unique. Also, I feel like there were some parts in the book that could gross out the younger people reading this book. For example, the people still alive had to eat the meat of the dead survivors. I definitely feel like he should’ve talked about this, as it happened in the true event, but I feel like he could’ve described it a little more kid friendly. Finally, I feel like there were only a few parts to where the book was going a little slow. The book was almost to perfection, but I feel like Piers Paul could’ve described few actions in certain parts throughout the book.

While looking at reviews, a saw a lot of mixed emotions, which truly surprised me. One person said how once you start reading the book, you won’t stop. I totally agree with this. This was the same case for me, as I kept reading, ever since the first page. Another person said how the hope and fight from the survivors truly painted the book. I definitely agree with this. Without the dedication from the survivors, there wouldn’t be a book and a movie for this event. The survivors never gave up, and because of that, some of them were able to stay alive. Even when people are saying good things about the book, people are also saying bad things. For example, one person said how the facts in the book were false for the event that happened in real life. I couldn’t disagree with this more. The facts Piers Paul created in his writing were definitely correct, as I already knew about the event in years past. I definitely knew he was right on what he was saying. Also, someone said how the book was too gruesome. I disagree with him a little, but I can see where he is coming from. For me, I feel like most of the book was kid friendly, but there was definitely parts that were a little to gruesome for kids to read about.

Overall, I feel like this was an excellent book. I couldn’t let go of it, as there was action on almost every page. If you are looking for a book you can’t let go of, an action-packed story, and the determination for the characters throughout the book, this is the perfect book for you. ...more "
