Wanderer falls in love with the same person that Melanie is in love with, she goes with Melanie on a journey to find Jared and they almost die, and they find lots of humans including Jared. But, all the humans are scared and mad at Wanderer and Jared basically hates her so when he has to make the decision whether to kill her or not it's intense, but luckily Jared decides not to kill her because he realizes that it is actually Melanie inside of Wanderer. Then, while Melanie loves Jared and Jared loves Melanie, Ian (another human) loves Wanderer and Wanderer is confused with how she feels because of Melanie's thoughts. Wanderer proves herself by saving Jamie, Melanie's younger brother, after he almost dies and she is soon going on lots of raids to get supplies with Jared, Ian, and some other humans. Then Wanderer figures out how to separate the soul from its host and so she asks for this to be done to her and Melanie, and when it is done to them and they were separated Melanie was her human self and Wanderer also got to stay and live with Melanie, Ian, Jared, Jamie and the rest of the humans.

Jared's true nature is that he is a good, tough, and loving guy. Jared might have seemed like a bad guy when he first met Wanderer but then things changed and he ended up being a good guy again. In the text, when they first see Jared it says, "She was within inches of touching him, and still she didn't see what I saw. She didn't see how his face had changed in the long months of separation, how it had hardened, how the lines pulled in different directions now." It goes on saying more of how Jared had changed and become a different meaner man. Then Jared changed back to his good old self, for example, when Jamie was basically about to die Jared helped Wanderer to get the medicine from the Alien hospital to save Jamie and this showed that Jared was a good person and that he had believed and trusted in Wanderer. This is how Jared's true Self is a good, tough, and loving guy.

I wasn't really a huge fan of this book. It was pretty intense and some of it was really cool and fun but it was really confusing. At first I was so confused and I just had to keep asking myself the Question of if Melanie was the host or Wanderer was the host and if they were even human or not, and I feel like there was a lot of unneeded parts that really just weren't interesting or that great. ...more "
