He was homeschooled his entire life because of that, and when his mom wants him to go to middle school he really doesn't want to but ends up doing it anyway. He meets some really good friends like Jack and Summer and some jerks like Julian. He has a very eventful year, and at the end of the year he has a nature retreat. While they venture off into the woods, they meet people that are way older than them and the older kids beat up Jack and August until they finally run away. In the end, they have their 5th grade graduation and August is glad that he went to middle school and is very happy.
I think that August’s true nature was his friendly and kind one in this book. Before he goes to school, he’s really shy and doesn't have many friends. When he does go to school though, he’s really kind and friendly to the other kids and they eventually find out that August is a really cool kid and decides to hang out with him. This means that if he can be his true self all the time in life, he can be really successful and have lots of friends. In conclusion, I think that August’s true self is his nice and friendly side instead of his shy side.
I really liked this book for a bunch of different reasons. First of all, this book is really inspiring. It talked a lot about how we should be kind to others even if they are different than you. We’re all human, so we should be kind to each other. Second, I liked the story. It was an interesting idea for a story, but it works out really well and I liked how it went. Third, I liked how it had the different perspective on what things happened. Like when August’s sister Olivia brought home her boyfriend Justin, August was the one where everything revolved around, and then it switched to Justin's perspective. For example, at the start of that part, it says,”Is there a Machine Gun in there? I asked”. And it said,” And then August says, Is there a Machine Gun in there?”. It was really cool. In conclusion, I really liked the book Wonder....more
