The study in scarlet was an interesting book to read. There was some less interesting parts about the book that felt like it took to long to read through but besides that the rest of book was really good. The parts of the that I didn’t enjoy that much were the beginning of part 2 when Doyle was describing Utah with all of scenery detail for how desperate John and Lucy were after they were the only ones left. He could cut it down a bit instead of a chapter full of the scenery details. In the book woman weren’t really important for the most of the book. They really don’t show up much and when they are important someone else takes the spotlight. Even with the murder of drebber was over a woman that was a footnote of the bigger picture. The men were more important than most women in the book. The book overall was enjoyable read. The characters in the book were a little hard to connect with at first but later on it was a little easier to connect with the characters. Sherlock was hard to understand with his methods but then after he explain how he figure it out it made a lot easier to understand. How I felt about Sherlock and Watson relationship was more that Watson was trying to figure out sherlock and how does he know every single thing about a person. Jefferson hope was a guy that wanted revenge on the people who killed the woman that he was going to married. He was going to the ends of the world to kill the two people that killed Lucy and John. Drebber was the first moorman to be killed by Jefferson Hope. Jefferson hope waited and followed drebber and stangerson all the from Utah to London. He first killed drebber first because he was the one to marry lucy and when lucy died Drebber didn’t care but all of his wives did. So when they got to London Jefferson Hope got a job as a taxi driver and when he got the job he learned the roads that was going to take to kill drebber. Jefferson hope was going to poison him that jefferson hope had learn from being a janitor at a university and he had combined the poison’s together and have non poison pills as well. When he had drebber where he wanted drebber was drunk and he lock the door and told him that he needs to choice a pill and he choose the poison pill and then died. After Drebber has been killed Jefferson Hope then went on to kill stangerson. He found stangerson in a hotel that he and drebber were going to meet up at. Jefferson Hope climbed through the window of stangerson room but stangerson knew to he will try to kill him with the poison and fought back and he died. Overall a study in scarlet was really fun book to read....more
