The story of this book is about of professional boxer whose name is Rubin Carter who was known as the “Hurricane”. He was sent to jail for a crime that he didn’t commit. After his first trial he came out of jail on parole, in this time he began a romance with Kelly. Which finished when she accused him of beating her, just to destroy his fame and career. This damaged his reputation and affected was going to affect him in the second trial. Much later a young guy Lesra wrote a letter to him because he read a book that Carter wrote and seeing similarities between them. This letter built a good relationship. Upon this members of the commune took a strong interest in Carter case. In this second trial he thought he was going to be free but he lost do to change in versions. He continued to fight for his freedom and appealed. On the third trial lawyer Robert Caruso with head filed on part of the case showed that police and prosecutors head change facts to gain a conviction thanks to this in other details he finally was free of charges on February 1998.
I still can’t believe that he got convicted for a crime that he didn’t commit. Because he was a pro boxer. He was innocent he didn’t commit nothing. There was a lot of racism. By just their skin color and how they look. Especially if you were not white. He spent a long time on jail. Life was so much harder. He wrote books on prison, that inspired other people to join his cause, that also helped him to over turn his first conviction. He was strong and he maintained his innocence by refusing everything. He had to deal with constant hunger and had to control his many cravings which meant controlling both body and mind. He had to overcome all those things. For definitely he was a brave man and a inspiration. I think after 21 years and 4 months in prison, he had a strong soul and mind. Great heart that after everything he went through he helped others in obtains justice.
I recommend this book because some persons can be convicted by a crime that they not commit. ...more "
