Devastated doesn't begin to cover it!! I knew I would love this and I knew it would hurt me and both of those things are true. I'm at a point where I just love reading about Hunger Games so much that Suzanne Collins could write anything and I would read it with quickness!! I absolutely loved reading about Haymitch's games and learning all the things that traumatized him so 😓

I don't know how to talk about this without spoilers so here's some general (and a few more specific) thoughts from while I was reading/some of the parts that hit me the hardest (MAJOR SPOILERS):
(view spoiler)[- All the early references to Haymitch not being a drinker and then subsequently becoming an alcoholic after the games ☹️
- Finding out that Haymitch originally had the fire under him to overthrow the government but they squashed him :( no wonder he was so hesitant to help Katniss :( THEY CRUSHED HIS SPIRIT I am going to cry again
- The goodbye between Lenore Dove and Haymitch :(
- Maysilee is an ICON!!!!!!!! I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- was not expecting Louella to DIE and then the Lou Lou body double gagggggedddd me
- WIRESS??????? MAGS???????????????????????????????? OUCH THIS IS GOING TO HURT
- Haymitch only being able to cry around Mags :(((((((((
- Realizing Beetee is there: 🤗 king!!! realizing that they brought Beetee here to watch his son die: 😨
- Ampert was such a cutie and his death was BRUTALLLLLL
- I screamed when Effie appeared!! Her arc of going from Capitol lackey to empathetic rebel is one of my favorite parts of the original trilogy, now I want to know how she got demoted (?) from stylist to escort for 12... Effie POV book next queen??
- Basically every time a character's name was mentioned that I recognized I turned into the Leo Dicaprio meme. I feel like people are gonna drag her and say it's fan service but I actually don't care 🩷
- Loved all of the songs! We need more books with songs! Especially the throwback to songs we learned from Lucy Gray and Katniss
- I thought the inclusion of The Raven as Lenore Dove's namesake was pretty cool
- The Hunger Games as a concept would be sooooo cool and fun if you took out the death part
- I got attached to the tributes from 12 really quickly, I was so sad when they died!
- As a whole I loved the emphasis in this one on what happens after the games and how it can be just as tough or even tougher than being IN the games... that hurt!
- All of Haymitch's little touches of humanity in times of distress like when he shared the chocolate with the girl from 1! He is baby :(
- ...and then the coverage of the games twisting all of those moments or removing them all together was so painful
- Girl I was sobbing at the joint funerals at the end. This is soooooo sick
- THE POISON GUMMIES damn can this boy have NOTHING- and then finishing it up by saying that Peeta and Katniss made their way into his heart :((((((((((((((((((((((((( I'm cry (hide spoiler)]

yup! I loved it! I ate it up yum yum yum! It made me cry and hurt a lot but I love this whole universe and the sick things in it. Reading about dystopian societies helps lessen the hurt of living in one. I can't wait for the movie and I hope this does well so miss Collins will give us more of what we want (Finnick's games!) Hunger Games series you will always be famous to me.
